Before and After Labiaplasty - Things to consider

    Before Labiaplasty

    • The ideal time for performing a labiaplasty is immediately after menstruation. This way, when the next menstruation begins, the tissues will be completely healed. If possible, try to plan your trip to Buenos Aires accordingly. If it is calculated that your next menstruation will start before the tissues will be completely healed, it would not be so serious; the surgery may still be performed, but you will probably feel more uncomfortable and the risks of infection will be higher.
    • You do not need to take any special precautions before the surgery and you may have sexual intercourse until the day before the surgery.
    • It is advisable that you ask your surgeon whatever questions you may have so as to do away with all those doubts and fears so common for those who are about to undergo surgery. Plenitas and its medical team will gladly answer all the questions you may want to ask before your trip and during the personal interview before the surgery.
    • It is advisable that you write down all the questions you may have prior to the interview, so that you will be able to read them to the physician and get answers for all of them.
    • Remember that smoking reduces the body's oxygenation, and insufficient oxygenation may result in complications after the surgery. For example, slower healing of wounds, thicker and more visible scars, and even skin necrosis in the area around the wounds. Therefore, if you are a smoker, we strongly recommend you not to smoke during a few weeks prior to the surgery.
    • You should carry with you loose-fitting and comfortable clothes.
It is advisable that you get the medication indicated by the physician in advance (antibiotics, analgesics), so that you will not have to take care of that right after the surgery.
    • Do not forget a book, magazines or your favorite CDs... and batteries for your discman!
    • Try to get wet towels like those used for babies. They are very useful when we cannot move about so freely.

    After Labiaplasty

Bandages: A piece of gauze on the vulva will be applied.

    Amount of pain: Low

Removal of the stitches: The stitches do not need to be removed, since an absorbable surgical thread is used.

Bruises and swelling : The incidence of bruises and swelling is minimal.

Scars: The resulting scars are very small and, since the area heals very well, they become almost unnoticeable as time goes by.

Recovery: You will have to rest for 24 hours, but you may walk around. You will be able to return gradually to your usual activities on the following days.
You will be able to have sexual intercourse again after the 21st day.

Possible risks and complications: It is very unlikely for a labiaplasty to present any complications when performed by a qualified surgeon. However, every surgical procedure, regardless of its triviality, has some risks and we should always think of them as a possibility.

    Asymmetry.
    Adverse reactions to anesthesia.
Infections, although they are very unusual if you take the right antibiotics.
If bruises get too large, they may require drainage.
Seromas, or fluid accumulation beneath the skin. In some cases, they may require to be drained with a syringe.
Temporary alteration of the labia's sensibility. During some time, your labia may have less sensibility, more sensibility, or they may have a different sensibility altogether. This is not serious and it tends to go back to normal by itself.

    1. Well obviously, labiaplasty is now one of the popular beauty enhancements today. Here in CA, there are many women who want to undergo this treatment. Maybe they want to do this thing for great love to their partner.

    2. I had a labiaplasty recently and I am very pleased with the results. Minimal pain - nothing the pain pills couldn't take care of - and on day three I was back to my usual activities :)

    3. Can you ask your doctor about Labiaplasty, and what are the costs and risks?
